Analog lettering construction: The process of creating and designing without artificial intelligence

June 15, Saturday 16:30 – SALT Galata

Nowadays the majority of graphic design, type design and sign production is created using computers. Working digitally is fast and efficient! But are we compromising with quality and will some of the invaluable human touch get lost in the process? There’s a new generation of sign painters working with traditional techniques without the use of computers or machines. Jakob Engberg, founder of Copenhagen Signs, will talk about his analog design process in his work as a traditional sign painter and lettering artist. Explain why hand crafted lettering and design has more soul and talk about why it is important for our human integrity to maintain a level of imperfection in the design and signs that surrounds us.
