Symposium on Armenians in the Early Modern Ottoman Empire
Վաղ արդի շրջանի Օսմանեան Հայերու մասին գիտաժողով
In the early modern period (16th–18th centuries) most Armenians in the world lived in the Ottoman Empire. Armenian merchants, authors, architects, musicians, printers, and churchmen played a critical role in the cultural, intellectual, religious and economic life of the empire, and they left a rich legacy of historical texts, literature, art, music, and material culture. This one-day symposium is open to the public and brings together young scholars engaged in the burgeoning subfield of Armenian history in the early modern Ottoman Empire.
