Typography in Design Curricula

'Typography' as a specific area of study has always taken a dominant position within graphic design curricula. It is approached from practical, theoretical, historical, legal and research perspectives. However, the changes in digital environments, which affect both the designing and reading of texts, have not lead to major modifications in design curricula. This workshop aims to provide an overview of visual communication in order to locate typography within professional practice, and concludes by showing how this could affect typography education.
